2025 World Benchrest Championships

Local Benchrest shooter Michael Thompson was earlier this year inducted into the SSAA Benchrest Hall of Fame which was a great achievement, on the strength of that award he was chosen to captain the SSAA 4-man A grade team to compete in the World Championships to be held in St Louis, Missouri commencing the 23rd to 27th September, 2025. The week before the world titles he competed in the USA National Championships with 104 shooters competing. In the 100yds LB he placed 8th with a score of .2256, sg .130. 200yds .2613, sg .295 and placed 10th. In the Grand Agg he scored .2435 and placed 2nd which was a fantastic result. HB 100yds he placed 4th with a score of .1906, sg .116. 200yds 24th with a .2252, sg .320. He placed 4th in the Grand Agg with a score of .2079. 18 countries contested the World Benchrest Championships commencing on the 23rd September, 2025. Australia A consisted of Michael Thompson (c) from NSW, Paul Sullivan (Queensland). Milan Morell (South Australia) and Darren Parsons (NSW). In the LB 100yds they placed 4th. 200yds 10th and the Grand Agg 7th. HB 100yds 8th, 200yds 6th and 6th overall in the Grand Agg. The 2-gun saw them placed in 7th place behind 3 USA teams, 1 French, 1 Canadian and a team from Finland. Overall, a very satisfying result.
